Why is my unit not getting cable?

If your Tiffin motorhome isn't receiving cable TV, the issue is likely due to a misconfiguration or a hardware fault within the RV's internal cable system. Here's a step-by-step guide to diagnose and resolve the problem:

1. Verify External Cable Connection

  • Ensure the coaxial cable from the campground's pedestal is securely connected to the correct "Cable In" port on your RV, typically located in the utility bay.
  • Test the campground's cable signal by connecting the cable directly to a TV. If channels are detected, the issue is within your RV.

 2. Check the Antenna Booster Switch

  • Locate the antenna booster switch, often found near the main TV or in an overhead cabinet.
  • This switch toggles between the over-the-air (OTA) antenna and the cable input. When the green LED is illuminated, the OTA antenna is active. Press the switch to turn off the LED, thereby activating the cable input.

 3. Configure TV Input Settings

  • Set your TV's input source to "Cable" or "CATV" via the settings menu.
  • Perform an auto-channel scan to detect available cable channels.
  • Repeat this process for each TV in your RV, as settings may vary individually.

4. Inspect Internal Wiring and Splitters.  If the above steps don't resolve the issue, the problem may lie within the RV's internal wiring:

  •   Access the area behind the antenna booster panel to inspect coaxial connections and splitters.
  •   Ensure all connections are secure and free from corrosion.
  •   Use a multimeter to test for continuity between the external cable input and the TV connections.

 5. Consult Manufacturer Resources

  • Refer to your RV's owner's manual for specific wiring diagrams and troubleshooting steps.
