My power outlets aren’t working—how do I fix this?
If your power outlets aren’t working in your Tiffin motorhome, here’s how to fix it without wasting time guessing:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Check the GFCI Outlets First
- Tiffin (and most RVs) chain multiple outlets through one GFCI outlet (typically in the kitchen or bathroom).
- If that GFCI trips, it can kill 3–5 other outlets.
- ✅ Press the “RESET” button on each GFCI outlet to see if power comes back.
2. Check Shore Power or Generator Input
- If plugged into shore power, verify the pedestal breaker is ON.
- If running the generator, make sure it’s fully running and powering the 120V system.
- ⚠️ Some outlets are powered only when the inverter is on, depending on how Tiffin wired your coach.
3. Check the Inverter (if equipped)
- Look for error codes or alerts on the Magnum or Xantrex panel.
- Ensure the inverter is ON and not in a fault state.
- Cycle it OFF and back ON if needed.
4. Check Your Breaker Panel
- Go to your main 120V breaker panel (usually near the bed or mid-coach).
- Flip each breaker OFF and then back ON to ensure none are tripped.
5. Inspect the Fuse Panel (12V)
- Some outlets (especially USB ports or combo units) may be on the 12V side—check those fuses too.
6. Test the Outlets
- Use a simple plug-in outlet tester or lamp to confirm which ones are dead.
- Identify if the issue is isolated or affecting an entire circuit.
🛠️ Still Not Working? If none of that works, you may have:
- A bad GFCI outlet (they fail over time)
- Loose wiring in the outlet daisy chain
- A failed inverter circuit
