How to Safely connect to 20A shore power: Magnum Energy Control Panel

Certain Tiffin models are equipped with a Magnum Energy inverter/charger system and an ME-RC remote control panel. This system allows owners to safely limit power draw when storing their RVs in a home garage with a standard 115V/20A outlet.  Models include Zephyr, Allegro Bay, Breeze, Phaeton, RED 340/360 and Open Road.

✔️ Storage Setup Instructions for Magnum-Equipped Coaches

If your Tiffin motorhome is equipped with a Magnum Energy control panel, follow these steps to store it safely in a residential garage:

  1. Set Shore Power Input Limit
On the Magnum control panel, navigate to Shore Power > AC Input Amps, and select 20A. This prevents the charger and loads from exceeding the outlet’s capacity.

  2. Power Down House Loads
Turn off high-draw systems (A/Cs, fridge, lights, etc.) to reduce the risk of tripping the breaker during charging.

  3. Connect to Power Safely
Use a 15A-to-50A or 20A-to-50A adapter to plug the RV’s shore cord into the 115V/20A outlet. Ensure secure connections and avoid damaged cords.

  4. Leave Battery Isolators ON
Keep both chassis and house battery disconnects in the ON position. If they're off, the Magnum charger won't maintain the batteries.

  5. GFCI Caution
Standard GFCI outlets may trip under RV inverter/charger loads. If possible, use a non-GFCI protected 115V/20A outlet or plug the RV into a circuit with a surge protector to help prevent nuisance tripping.

Following this process helps keep your batteries maintained during storage without overloading the power source.
